The Music Department of St. Mary’s Grammar School, Magherafelt showcased the exceptional musical talent of the school in its recent Spring Concert.  

Organised by Mr Cuddy and Miss McKillop, the concert was attended by a large audience, including pupils, staff and parents/guardians. The programme for the evening was broad and varied, offering something to satisfy all musical tastes. Coíriú, the All Ireland Gael Linn Siansa finalists, opened the concert and received huge applause from the audience.  As well as performances by the St. Mary’s Senior Choir, Junior Choir, Ballad Group, Brass Ensemble, String Ensemble and Junior Traditional Group, the programme also included solo vocal performances by Eimear McCann, Olivia Young, Cillian Donaghy and Enya Loughlin. Instrumental performances were provided by Molly McAllister on the violin, Cormac Mackle on the guitar, Aidan McKeever on the double bass, Hugh O’Donnell on the viola, Fintan Darragh on the euphonium, Meadhbh Sweeney on the tin whistle, Molly O’Neill on the fiddle,  Jack Lavery and Alannah Mitchell on the accordion and Eimear McCann and Mary Lagan on the flute.  

The proceeds from the evening have been donated to two charities chosen by St. Mary’s Music students: Feed My Lambs Children’s Ministry and Make a Wish Foundation.
