ST. MARY’S PUPILS BRING A TASTE OF FRANCE TO HOLY FAMILY PRIMARY SCHOOL

Year 12 French students from St. Mary’s Grammar School, Magherafelt have been nurturing primary school pupils’ interest in the European language.

Since November, the GCSE pupils have delivered weekly lessons to Primary 7 pupils in Holy Family Primary School, Magherafelt. Led by Miss Donoghue (Head of Modern Languages), the students, who are interested in pursuing future careers in teaching, prepared a programme of lessons around a variety of topics. Through the use of ICT, music, song and drama, the GCSE pupils developed the linguistic skills of the primary school pupils and provided them with a flavour of what they can look forward to in the study of languages when they transfer to post-primary school.
