ART ATTACK

On 5 October 2013, A Level Art and Design students visited the Turner Prize Exhibition in Derry.​  The exhibition is arguably the world’s most prestigious award for contemporary art and this is the first time since 1984 that the exhibition has been presented in Northern Ireland. Attendance at the exhibition provided students with an insight into what is currently new and exciting in the world of art. During the visit, students actively participated in gallery exhibitions and two students - Siobhan Robinson and Abigail Law - were interviewed by Channel 4 about their views on each nominated artist’s work.​

THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST

On Saturday 26 October 2013, GCSE Drama and Performing Arts pupils travelled to the Millennium Forum Theatre, Derry to see NI Opera’s production of ‘The Importance of Being Earnest’ by Oscar Wilde.  Pupils enjoyed a pre-show behind-the-scenes tour of the theatre, as well as a post-show discussion with the show’s Assistant Director, Danielle Urbas, and a walk-on tour of the set.
