IT ONLY TAKES A MINUTE

On Tuesday 16 October 2018, the Drama Department of St. Mary’s Grammar School was pleased to welcome c21 Theatre Company to the school.  As part of its Irish tour, and ahead of its run in The Mac Theatre, Belfast, the company brought its current production of It Only Takes a Minute to St. Mary’s.  The play was performed for Year 10 pupils and GCSE and A Level Drama and Theatre Studies students.

A LEVEL ART AND DESIGN VISIT TO DUBLIN

On Friday 19 October 2018, GCSE and A Level Art and Design students, accompanied by Mrs McKernan, Mrs Patton, Miss Kerr and Mr Carleton, travelled to Dublin to visit three art galleries and museums. The main purpose of the visit was to observe the work of historical and contemporary practitioners to enable pupils to develop their practical and written work.

MORNING OF MUSIC

On Saturday 20 October 2018, musicians from St. Mary’s Grammar School’s traditional group - Cumann Ceoil Naomh Mhuire - held a morning of music in Meadowlane Shopping Centre, Magherafelt to raise funds for their trip to London to play at the School Proms.

GIDEONS INTERNATIONAL VISIT TO ST. MARY’S

On Monday 22 October 2018, St. Mary’s was delighted to welcome Mr Billy Brown and Mr Ray Stewart, representatives of Gideons International, to speak to Year Eight during their weekly assembly.  

Students learnt about the work of the Gideons before receiving their own copy of the Bible.  Many thanks to Mr Brown and Mr Stewart for taking the time to visit the school and to Gideons International for providing a bible for each pupil to keep.

DRAMA DEPARTMENT THEATRE VISIT TO SEE ‘THE MAN WHO FELL TO PIECES’

ROAD OF HOPE SHOE BOX APPEAL

St. Mary’s Grammar School once again took part in the annual Road of Hope Shoe Box Appeal. Road of Hope is a voluntary charity organisation that relies on the goodwill of local people to help support those underprivileged in countries such as Bosnia, Croatia, Romania and Africa.
