A LEVEL ART AND DESIGN VISIT TO DUBLIN
On Friday 19 October 2018, GCSE and A Level Art and Design students, accompanied by Mrs McKernan, Mrs Patton, Miss Kerr and Mr Carleton, travelled to Dublin to visit three art galleries and museums. The main purpose of the visit was to observe the work of historical and contemporary practitioners to enable pupils to develop their practical and written work.
The first venue visited was the National Gallery of Ireland, followed by a visit to the Royal Hibernian Academy. The final stop was at the Museum of Modern Art Ireland. Returning to Magherafelt late evening, pupils were all greatly inspired by the wide range and diversity of art, craft and design showcased in Dublin presently. One of the students reflected on the experience: “This year we had the fantastic opportunity to go to Dublin to attend a variety of galleries and museums. This allowed us to view a large selection of work which has inspired us to try new techniques in our own work.”
