Climate Change Conference

Posted on 11th November 2019 | News

On Saturday 9 Novemeber 2019, 15 pupils from St.Mary’s travelled to the Cardinal ÓFiaich Memorial Library to participate in a Climate Change Conference.

The event, which gave students an insight into the issues surrounding Climate Change, was organised by the Justice and Peace Group at the Armagh Diocese.  Speakers presented on a range of issues from the very topical environmental impact of Climate Change to exploring some of the challenges in tackling the current crisis.  Two pupils from St. Mary’s, Peter Cassidy (Year 11) and Conal Heaney (Year 13), sat on the panel and spoke passionately to those in attendance.  The presentations were followed by group discussions and the floor was then opened to the attendees to pose questions to the panel.  It was a thoroughly enjoyable day which left the pupils enthused and inspired.
