Almost 80 pupils from St. Mary’s Grammar School, Magherafelt have been presented with a faith award by Archbishop Eamon Martin in St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Armagh.  The Pope John Paul II Award and the Muiredach Cross Award were presented to the young people at a special ceremony on Thursday 28 March 2019 in recognition of their volunteering work in parishes, communities and schools.

The Pope John Paul II Award and the Muiredach Cross Award both provide young people with the opportunity to develop their faith.  During the ceremony, Archbishop Eamon Martin spoke passionately about the challenges faced by young people in today’s society, and the pressure to defend one’s faith in the 21st century.  Dermot Kelly, Diocesan Youth Director, commented: “The Awards Ceremony is a celebration of the beauty and abundant potential of our young people.  The youth are a beacon of light and the ceremony is a great opportunity for our Church to celebrate the gift of life.”

We wish our young people every blessing as they move forward in their faith journey.
