OPEN EVENINGS 2019
On Tuesday 22 and Wednesday 23 January 2019, hundreds of Primary 6 and Primary 7 pupils, along with their parents and guardians, took the opportunity to gain a first-hand insight into the St. Mary’s experience by attending one of the school’s annual Open Evenings.
Addressing the P6 and P7 pupils, Ms Gillespie said: “Regardless of whether or not you join St. Mary’s in September, I want you to take something away from your visit to our school this evening. And my message to you is this: as you prepare to leave the familiar surroundings of your primary school, a new world awaits you – a world of exploration, discovery and adventure. As you enter this new world, always remember to keep your hopes and dreams for the future alive. You can be who and what you want to be, so you must believe in yourself and dream big. As Walt Disney once said: ‘If you can dream it, you can do it.’ Each one of you is special and unique with your own individual gifts and talents. Never forget this. Be inspired by the words of Pope Francis when he said: ‘Dear young people, do not bury your talents, the gifts that God has given you! Do not be afraid to dream of great things!’”
