ST. MARY’S GIRLS CLAIM ULSTER TITLE

Posted on 14th January 2020 | News

The Ulster U16B Final took place on Friday 10 January in MUSA where St. Mary’s and St. Dominic’s battled it out to be crowned Ulster Champions.

A goal for St. Dominic’s in the first minute meant St. Mary’s were on the back foot from the beginning. However, the determined attitude of the St. Mary’s Ladies meant they responded with a score and this continued up to half-time when St. Mary’s were ahead by just 3 points. The second half proved even more exciting as St. Dominic’s edged in front by a single point approaching full time. Again, the ‘never give up’ attitude of St. Mary’s meant they responded again with a point.  As the sides were level going into injury time, Eilis Keenan created a wonderful position for herself and rattled the ball into the back of the net.  Only a few seconds later the full time whistle went, and St. Mary’s claimed the victory.  This was a fabulous performance from all our Ladies Footballers, which is testament to the hard work these girls have put in from September. We are very proud of the efforts of the U16 Team and we look forward to the preparation for the All-Ireland Semi-Final.
