St. Mary’s Marks World Mental Health Day
On Friday 9 October 2026, pupils and staff at St. Mary’s celebrated World Mental Health Day by raising awareness of the importance of positive mental health and emotional wellbeing.
Throughout the previous week, assemblies highlighted the significance of World Mental Health Day and encouraged everyone to take positive steps to support their own wellbeing. As a proud Take 5 Platinum School, assemblies also revisited the Take 5 Steps to Wellbeing and reminded pupils of the school’s Take 5 Pledge.
To show their support for mental health awareness, pupils and staff wore green ribbons, the internationally recognised symbol of mental health awareness. Donations were also collected throughout the day, with all proceeds going to a local charity.
As part of the school’s commitment to supporting wellbeing, all Year 8 pupils received a bookmark featuring the School Prayer of Hope, along with a copy of the Little Book of Feelings, kindly provided by the Being Well, Doing Well team within the Education Authority.
